Who we are and what this covers
theBarty is built and operated by brezel.ai LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company located at 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States (“brezel.ai”, “we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it when you use the theBarty website (thebarty.com) and the theBarty desktop app for Windows and macOS.
This policy is effective as of July 16, 2026. It is written in English, and the English version is the legally governing version — translations, where provided, are for convenience only.
The short version
- theBarty synchronizes playback between you and your friends — it never touches the shows themselves. Video and audio come straight from your own streaming service to you.
- We never ask for, collect, or store your streaming-service passwords. Not for Netflix, not for Shahid, not for anyone.
- Chat, voice, and reactions are processed and transmitted in real time to deliver the feature — to get your message or your voice to the rest of your party.
- No ads on our watch. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your chat or voice content for advertising.
- Questions? Email us any time at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you contact us — for example by emailing [email protected] — we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we keep that correspondence so we can help you.
If you set up theBarty with account or profile details (such as a display name or an email address used to sign in), we collect the information you enter so the app can identify you to your watch party and keep your settings.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every online service, our servers keep technical logs — including IP addresses, request timestamps, and basic device information — which we use for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the service running. The desktop app may also report its version and your operating system so we can deliver updates and fix compatibility problems.
The website itself is deliberately quiet: it uses no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no tracking pixels. The only cookie it sets is a language-preference cookie, described in our Cookie Policy.
Watch-party information
To keep a party in sync, theBarty processes room identifiers and playback-synchronization signals — technical signals such as play, pause, and seek timing. These are the mechanics of keeping everyone at the same second of the same scene.
What we never collect
Your streaming passwords. theBarty never asks for and never collects the credentials for your Netflix, Shahid, WatchIT, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, OSN+, Viu, or any other streaming account. You log in to those services yourself, with them, not with us.
The shows themselves. theBarty does not host, store, stream, or rebroadcast any movie or show. Video and audio streams travel directly from each streaming provider to each participant and never pass through theBarty’s synchronization service.
Chat and voice
Text chat, voice chat, and emoji reactions exist to get your words to your party. That content is processed and transmitted in real time to the other participants in your watch party to deliver the feature, and it is retained only as long as needed to operate the service.
We do not use your chat or voice content for advertising, and we do not sell it — ever.
One honest note: the other people in your watch party can see your messages and hear your voice — that is the point — and, like in any conversation, they could copy or record what you share. Choose your party (and your words) accordingly.
How we use information
- To operate theBarty and keep watch parties in sync.
- To protect the service — detecting, preventing, and responding to abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To understand what is breaking and improve the app and the site.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — processing playback signals and chat so your watch party actually works.
- Legitimate interests — keeping server logs to secure the service and prevent abuse.
- Legal obligation — retaining records where the law requires it.
- Consent — where we ask for it, such as optional features that clearly request your permission; you can withdraw consent at any time.
How we share information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers — companies that host our infrastructure or help us run the service, under contracts that limit what they can do with the data.
- Legal requests — when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect our users, the public, or theBarty.
- Business transfers — if brezel.ai is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
- With your consent — when you ask us to share something, or agree to a sharing feature.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Data retention
We keep each category of information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for — synchronization signals to run your party, logs to secure the service, support emails to resolve your issue — and then we delete or de-identify it. If you would like information about you deleted sooner, email [email protected] and we will honor your request wherever the law allows.
Your rights and choices
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or another region with data-protection laws (including GDPR-style laws), you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict the processing of your personal data; to receive a portable copy of it; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; to withdraw consent at any time; and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Residents of other regions — including countries in the GCC with data-protection laws — can exercise the rights available to them through the same channel. For any of the above, email [email protected] and we will respond as the applicable law requires.
International transfers
brezel.ai LLC is based in the United States, and information we collect is processed there. If you use theBarty from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required — for example, for transfers from the EEA or the UK — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
theBarty is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us personal information, we will delete it and terminate any associated account. If you believe this has happened, contact us at [email protected].
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. That said, no service can promise perfect security — no one honestly can — so please use good judgment about what you share.
Third-party streaming services
When you watch something on Netflix, Shahid, WatchIT, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, OSN+, Viu, or any other platform, that service collects and processes data under its own privacy policy. theBarty does not control those platforms and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them. Please review their policies — they, not we, decide what happens with your streaming account data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version here and update the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we will give more prominent notice, such as a notice on the website or in the app.
